THE GERMAN RIESLING MASTERCLASS IN ATHENS

Recently Jancis Robinson MW, during one of her latest rather interesting articles, talked about Riesling, describing it as the world's greatest white variety. However, she refrained from mentioning the "secret" white grape both at the title and at the beginning of the article, arguing that is a turn-off for many consumers. So instead Robinson is playing "hide and seek" with the "grape that dares neither speak nor spell its name", the grape of worth – Riesling!

Fighting against the tide, we will speak loud and clear from the very beginning:

11 German Riesling & 4 flights!

Starting from different grapes' level of maturity (Prädikats) showing J.J Prum in three different expressions, we will proceed to discuss characteristics of recent vintages and regions and then to the final countdown of going down vintages, travelling through time from 1993, to 1989, to 1979, to 1976 and 1971 as our final destination!

Just as an indication, do you have any idea how wine guru Michael Broadbent characterizes the last two vintages in his little magic book ''Vintage Wine Companion''? The 1976 as a gloriously ripe vintage-4* and the 1971 as magnificent vintage-5*…

Any further info??? Well yes! With only 45 seats available, you will need to book well in advance and secure your place by depositing the participation fee. Eh! And this time we START AT 20:00 to survive the long duration of the wine tasting.
